Protect Child Nutrition
“Because Every Child Deserves to Learn Without Hunger”
Hunger should never stand in the way of a child’s education. Yet for many children in Sri Lanka, the struggle for food makes it difficult to concentrate, learn, and thrive. Recognizing this urgent need, the Lions of Sri Lanka—together with the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)—launched the Protect Child Nutrition (PCN) program in 2023.
This initiative is more than just a meal program. It is a promise to safeguard the health, dignity, and future of our children, ensuring that they have the nourishment needed to focus on their studies and pursue their dreams.
What We Do
🍚 5,000 Meals – Every School Day
Every single school day, the PCN program provides 5,000 hot, nutritious meals to 5,000 schoolchildren across the island.
📅 Started in 2023 – Still Growing Strong
Since its launch, the program has been ongoing and expanding, serving as a vital safety net for children in need.
🤝 In Partnership with the Ministry of Education
Protect Child Nutrition operates under a formal MoU and guidelines of the Ministry of Education, ensuring accountability, quality, and alignment with the government’s vision for child development.
🌱 Beyond Meals – Building Brighter Futures
Lions Clubs not only provide food but also uplift children by supporting schools with educational materials, uniforms, school supplies, medical aid, and even discussions to establish community gardens that will grow fresh fruits and vegetables for students.

100% Increase in School Attendance
Where meals are provided, schools report a dramatic rise in attendance—sometimes as high as 100%. Children are eager to come to class when they know they will not only learn but also receive a nourishing meal.
